A Trip to London's Regent's Park

A couple of weeks ago it was my birthday and as a little treat I took myself and my little boy up to London for a couple of days. I studied for my first degree at University College London and later spent several years working and living in the capital! London has so much to offer and as it's not too far from Brighton I try to visit as much as possible. We spent time in different areas of London, meeting with friends and visiting the Science Museum for the first time! I wasn't too sure if the Science Museum was suitable for a two-year old but there are a couple of toddler designated play/exploration rooms which are amazing, full of interactive areas ready to stimulate any little person! Actually, my little toddler didn't want to leave and we didn't even get to the second room!

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Regent's Park. I know it well as I used to live nearby in Camden (many moons ago) and occasionally walked to work and university through the park! It's one of the best parks in London and has so many different areas worth exploring; wide tree-lined paths, a fantastic children's park, many beautiful active fountains, home to the Frieze Art Fair which was taking place the day we were there (the third photo shows one of the exhibits), a gorgeous lake with swans, ducks and many other unique birds, a separate boating lake, large playing fields, home to London Zoo and it's also full of some stunning flower displays! My description is probably not doing the park justice so if you happen to be in North/Central London and have some spare time I recommend taking a visit. It was a lovely sunny day when we were there and everyone was out enjoying the fresh air. As usual toddler wanted to push his own buggy around and I had my DLSR handy to take some snaps of the beautiful Autumn colours. Here's a selection from the trip:

Have you visited Regent's Park? What's your favourite area in London?

My Kitchen Wish List

Kitchens are the hub of every home and we spend a lot of time in ours! As well as eating together I love sitting down at the kitchen table with a cuppa, reading the newspaper or catching up with blogging on my laptop. It overlooks some of the garden and as it's west facing gets all of the afternoon sun. I do like my kitchen, but it's not the most up to date room and I would love to make little improvements here and there with a limited budget. Here's my Kitchen wish list.

Ideas for Creating Kids Activities in the Home

My little boy is two now and his creativity is growing by the day. I was watching him building his Lego towers earlier and realised how much they have changed in a few months. They used to be straight up structures made from single Lego pieces. Now he's building four different towers from one main brick, all unique in shape and size with lots of added dimensions! I was pretty amazed, gave him lots of praise and he was so pleased with himself. He played with his Lego for about an hour this afternoon, much longer than usual. He's always loved exploring and been curious about things but now his imagination is growing and growing. We live very close to the seaside, parks & play groups but as the days are drawing in we're likely to be spending more time inside. I wanted to share some of our ideas for creating activities in the home.

Photo Friday: Early October Sunshine

© Our Seaside Baby

Toddler and I went to the seaside earlier on this gloriously sunny day. The weather has been so nice in the past week or so with today being the highlight. We have both been ill recently with colds & coughs so it's nice to be back out in the fresh air enjoying the sunshine. I do love these early October days, the beginning of Autumn with the temperatures of summer again! The sea looked so inviting today and a lot of other people must have thought so because there were sunbathers in bikinis & quite a few swimmers in the sea. We sat eating our lunch on the beach watching the world go by. It was a low tide too so we even got to play in the sand! :) What did you get up to today?
