A Weekend in Cambridge

Last weekend I took toddler on a three hour train ride to Cambridge. It was lovely catching up with friends and visiting several places in town. I took a lot of photos as usual so thought I'd share the best here. I wrote about my love of Cambridge in an earlier post and do crave the countryside on a regular basis. I know, I know, I live by the sea and can't complain... BUT everyone can definitely benefit from that sense of peace and space you find at the countryside.

Cambridge, in particular, has such beautiful surrounding countryside and we went for a lovely walk through the meadows to Grantchester, a picturesque little village with a good pub! I love watching toddler running through fields, there is something very satisfying about it. Is that just me? I would love to do a photography shoot in a rye or lavender field somewhere, like the picture-perfect ones you see on Pinterest. Not sure they would turn out like that but worth a try!

We saw some cows on the way back, something toddler was very interested in. By this time he was in his buggy and probably exhausted as he'd done so much walking. Weather permitting, I'm planning a trip somewhere nice tomorrow. Do you share my love of the countryside? What trips have you been on lately?

  3. Cambridge looks lovely!

Off topic - but I love your little one's curls. Our son has serious curls but we have to keep his hair short because they are too hard to maintain!

    1. It's lovely, have you been?

Aww thanks, I love his curls, he gets them from me :) They look very neat in this photo, other times they are all over the place. He doesn't like having his hair brushed at the moment either. Aww, I want to meet you little boy xx

  4. Cambridge looks lovely. I've only ever been there when visiting family in Addenbrookes and meeting a friend for lunch but I've always been intrigued by Cambridge - I even applied to go to uni there!

  5. We live quite close to Cambridge and it is lovely countryside around here, funny how easy it is to take it for granted in the busyness of day to day life! #countrykids

  7. Cambridge is one of my absolute favourite places, I love it. So beautiful, and it always feels just slightly detached from modern living and the outside world to me (I think it's all the people on bikes. & the gowns. & the punts.) #brilliantblogposts

  9. Ah so lovely to take a peek at Cambridge again. I was a student there but we don't live too far away now so often have visits there. Have never walked to Grantchester - isn't that a terrible admission! Will do that next time.

  10. I do love getting out into the countryside too - although I'd pick the beach over fields any day! - just enough to rejuvenate me and then back to my city. Cambridge is lovely to explore too. #citytripping

  11. Yes, we love going into the countryside too, and just walking around. We also love going to the sea! It's all so different from London and definitely much fresher. Cambridge is beautiful - with the benefits of the city and countryside together, and also so beautiful. I know why you love it! Great pics here too. #citytripping

  12. I lived for a while in Cambridge too, but never made it to Grantchester sadly. I'm lucky enough to live in the countryside so go out into the woods and fields on a daily basis. I do crave that space and greenery when we're away for a while. Good post! #citytripping

  20. I'm guessing Toddler had even more fun running about than you did by watching him. Lucky you: Cambridge is a lovely town, though I haven't had the opportunity to explore much of its countryside. I do like your river punting photo; it rivals any I've seen on Pinterest. :)
